Welcome to the Annapolis Composite Squadron (MD-028)
Welcome to the Annapolis Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. Our senior members and cadets are highly active in a variety of missions in the local community, across the State of Maryland, and beyond. These missions, pertaining primarily to aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs, span a wide range of disciplines and areas of expertise.
For senior members there are many opportunities to participate in air and ground search and rescue, homeland security, disaster relief, and other missions. Pilots are especially needed, but other aircrew positions (observers and scanners) exist as well. Opportunities are available for the development of ground team skills (direction-finding and ground-based search), and incident command post-related operation skills. Teachers interested in aviation can assist in training both cadets and senior members in aerospace education, as well as participate in community outreach at local schools through our special Aerospace Education Membership program just for teachers. With CAP’s “Fly a Teacher” program and free curricula and classroom materials, you can introduce the wonders of space and aviation into many different subject areas. We also have volunteer positions available for accountants, attorneys, chaplains, and administrators. Some of our greatest assets are the parents of our cadets who can assist in helping out as needed with a variety of tasks.
Our cadet program is open to boys and girls ages 12 through 18. The program emphasizes leadership and moral development, aerospace education, and participation in our ground and urban search and rescue teams. They can be seen training throughout the countryside and performing community services. Also, various aerospace-related events, activities, and field trips are scheduled throughout the year.
We are located at Lee Airport, which is ideally located within a few minutes drive from Annapolis and convenient to nearby communities. We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:45-9:00 PM. Come visit us, and if you like what you see please join us and help us serve the community.
